Road Runs 2006

2006 Events Review:

March 2006 Club Event:
The March Club Helluvit event was a jaunt over to Goodwood on Sunday 5th March, where members revelled in the sights and sounds of the first ever Goodwood Breakfast Club meeting.  It was a privilege to be part of what will surely become a regular date in every serious petrolhead's calendar!  The theme for the day was Classic Sports Cars and what a great selection there was!  From E-type Jaguars to MG roadsters, Rolls Royce rolling monsters to such wonders as a De Tomaso Pantera and a glorious AC Cobra.  It was a bright but cold day, and the breakfast was just what the doctor ordered!  We even met the Earl of March (and no, he didn't ask us to get off the grass!).  If you weren't there, you should have been!

April 2006 Club Event:
The April Club Helluvit event was a drive to Goodwood on Sunday 2nd April, 2006, for the second Goodwood Breakfast Club meeting.  The theme was Italian Sports Cars, and there was certainly a lot of shiny red metal on show!  Club Helluvit member, Hareb Al Khaili, shown in the photo below, normally likes to dip below the radar in stealth mode: this time we caught him on film!

June 2006 Club Event:
Club members enjoyed another rousing drive to Goodwood on Sunday 4th June, 2006, for the fourth Goodwood Breakfast Club meeting.  The theme was Supercars, so all the expected modern-day monsters were there, including a Ferrari Enzo, a Porsche Carrera GT, multiple Lamborghinis, Astons, TVRs, etc, though bizarrely, the star of the show was probably the chap in his Back to the Future DeLorean!

October 2006 Club Event:
Sunday 1st October, 2006.  Join us for a drive along the coast to Goodwood for the final Breakfast Club Meeting of 2006.  The theme for this weekend's display is Americana, so if you have an American classic, come along and show it off!  Entry is free, as is parking.  Breakfasts, snacks and other refreshments are available to buy.  We'll leave Bournemouth at about 09.00 hrs and aim to be at Goodwood for about 10.30 - 11.00 hrs.

Ferraris of all descriptions were to be found at Goodwood in June.

December News:
Thursday 28th December, 2006.
Director of Red Dragon Motorsport (UK) / Chairman of Club Helluvit, David and his wife Yurie were invited to the first ever black tie Christmas Party organised by the Super Aguri F1 Team at their headquarters at Leafield near Oxford.  (Yurie works for Takuma UK Ltd, Takuma Sato's commercial management company).  It was an excellent opportunity to chat with their no. 1 driver Takuma Sato, meet the boss of the team -  Aguri Suzuki, Taku's partner for 2007 - Anthony Davidson and his wife plus team test driver - Sakon Yamamoto who looked cool in his tuxedo and benny hat!  Plenty of wine, nibbles, a live band, more wine and some wild dancing........  But the journey was pretty treacherous, due to the thick fog (be careful how you say that!) and the driving habits of some HGV drivers.  At one stage, Taku and his Commercial Manager, Matthew Winter, had to come out and lead David and Yurie through the fog!
